Yogyakarta 3-Day Itinerary with Entry Costs

A three-day Yogyakarta plan that gives the Sultan's palace, Borobudur and Prambanan their own mornings, with entry costs and opening hours from official channels.

Indonesia Destinations

Sebaraya Travel – Three days in Yogyakarta is enough for the palace, Borobudur and Prambanan without rushing, if you give each big site its own morning. The fixed entry costs below were checked on official channels on 25 October 2026.

This plan suits first-time visitors staying in central Yogyakarta. It puts the palace on day one, Borobudur on day two, and Prambanan on day three, because each has opening hours that reward an early start.

Transport, food and hotels are not in this table, because those vary too much by travel style. Treat the table as the fixed part of your budget.

Day 1: Palace and City Centre

Start at the Kraton, the Sultan’s palace, founded in 1755 by Sultan Hamengkubuwono I. It opens from 09.00 to 14.00, Tuesday to Sunday, so do not plan it for a Monday.

Foreign adults pay Rp25,000 and foreign children Rp20,000, according to Indonesia’s official tourism website. Only part of the inner Kedhaton section is open to visitors, along with museums of royal heirlooms, carriages and batik.

Dress modestly, since the palace is still a sacred and working royal residence. In the afternoon, walk north to the Malioboro area, which is also served by TransJogja buses.

Day 2: Borobudur

Borobudur lies about 40 km northwest of Yogyakarta, so leave early. The temple-climb ticket is listed at Rp150,000 on the official booking page and runs daily from 08.30 to 17.00 WIB.

The climb ticket includes a guide and upanat sandals, and the booking page asks visitors to arrive 30 to 45 minutes before their slot. Book your slot before you book anything else on this day.

For the sunrise program, budget Rp1,000,000 and a 04.00 WIB check-in. Places are capped at 100 people a day.

Day 3: Prambanan

Prambanan opens daily from 06.30 WIB, and one ticket covers Prambanan, Lumbung, Bubrah and Sewu temples plus the Prambanan museum. That makes an early start worthwhile, before the midday heat.

Sewu is covered by the same ticket, so leave time for it rather than treating it as optional. Check the current foreign-visitor price on the official booking page before you go.

Can you do Borobudur and Prambanan on the same day? Yes, many tours do, but you will spend much of the day in a vehicle. Splitting them gives each site a full morning.

If Plans Change

The Kraton’s listed hours do not include Mondays, so swap days one and three if your first day falls on a Monday. Borobudur climbs now run every day, which makes it the easiest stop to move.

Book Borobudur first, then fit the other two around it. It is the only stop on this plan where access to the monument itself is managed by booked slots.

Check the Yogyakarta events calendar before booking hotels; mid-November and early December dates were already listed for 2026.

Ticket prices, fares, opening hours, and schedules can change at any time. Check the official operator or management channel before you travel.
